Treske were commissioned by Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council, working with Benchmark Architects and main contractor R G Carter, for bespoke Crematoria furniture for the new build Oak Hill crematorium including 120 HOWE all wood stacking chairs and armchairs in the same design, a catafalque, rise and fall lectern, lectern and freestanding cross.
The catafalque has a double width platform allowing for two coffins to be placed on top at the same time or for one coffin to be placed sideways on if required. The platform has multidirectional rollers fitted to the top to allow very easy movement and reorientation of the coffins during loading and transfer.
Treske also supplied a bespoke rise and fall lectern, smaller movable lectern, and freestanding cross in the main chapel.
The steel halo above the catafalque was fitted with very contemporary voile and committal curtains which can be closed independently or at the same time to create part or full closure at the end of each service. Additional curtains were also supplied for the viewing room.
Treske were commissioned to design and make furniture for the chapel, family and meeting rooms, and furniture for the café. The catafalque, lectern, flower stands, Howe 40/4 wooden seat and back chairs were all made for the chapel, while further tables with upholstered Howe 40/4 chairs were made for the café. Display cabinets, chairs and tables were manufactured for the meeting and family rooms.
Treske designed and manufactured an oak rise and fall catafalque and installed large triangular voile curtains in the gable end of the hall above the catafalque, inspired by yacht sails and Poole’s coastal heritage. Dress curtains in marine blue velvet complement 100 aquamarine upholstered Treske Harrogate chairs.
Treske supplied Memoria's North Oxfordshire Memorial Park with bespoke crematorium furniture, including the catafalque, lectern, committal curtains and tracking, as well as flower stands and bespoke seating in the form of matching sofas and chairs.
