Poole Crematorium, run by BCP Council (Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole) at Broadstone just outside Poole has seen significant improvements to update the facilities both outside and inside the crematorium including the waiting, reception and ceremony rooms.
The hall, now called ‘The Halo Ceremony Hall’, has been completely refurbished, with modern lighting, and new ceremonial furnishings and furniture. Treske designed and manufactured an oak rise and fall catafalque so that the coffin at the end of the service can be lowered within the catafalque. This movable catafalque replaces the original brick catafalque and gives flexibility to the ceremony space.
Additionally, Treske installed large triangular voile curtains in the gable end of the hall above the catafalque, inspired by yacht sails and Poole’s coastal heritage, also reflected in the hand painted murals on the ceremony hall walls. Dress curtains in marine blue velvet complement the 100 aquamarine patterned velvet upholstered Harrogate chairs supplied by Treske.
Treske were commissioned to design and make furniture for the chapel, family and meeting rooms, and furniture for the café. The catafalque, lectern, flower stands, Howe 40/4 wooden seat and back chairs were all made for the chapel, while further tables with upholstered Howe 40/4 chairs were made for the café. Display cabinets, chairs and tables were manufactured for the meeting and family rooms.
The new furniture consisted of a bespoke catafalque, console table, ambo-style lectern incorporating audio visual controls, and the main committal curtains and voile.
Treske completed the interior furnishing for Trent Valley Crematorium with the catafalque, lectern, upholstered chair seating, reception desk, sound desk furnishing, as well as furniture, including tables, chairs and display shelving for the meeting rooms.
