Founded over 900 years ago the Cathedral Church of St Peter in Exeter is one of the most beautiful medieval cathedrals in Europe, famous for its two Norman towers and the longest unbroken gothic vaulting in the world. The Cathedral houses many rare treasures including the Exon Domesday and the Exeter Book as well as Shakespeare’s second folio.
Like other important cathedral buildings Exeter has an ongoing number of conservation and improvement projects, from roofing to conserving the west front. Treske became involved with a project to provide additional seating within the Nave, supplying 500 of the Howe 40/4 stacking chairs. This new batch of chairs added to the 200 Howe 40/4 chairs already in place in the cathedral. The Howe 40/4 chairs are dense stacking, easy to store and move on trolleys, and are very high quality and comfortable seating for the many church services, occasions and concerts where good seating is required.
Treske supplied a number of trolleys to enable the chairs to be moved as single stacks of 40 chairs or as a double stack of 80 chairs at a time.
Treske supplied 412 of the Howe 40/4 dense stacking chairs for the reordering of the Nave seating.
Individual Choir seating and readers for 22, with an altar, lectern, celebrant and servers seating and readers, as well as removable altar rails
Treske made and installed a co-ordinated set of furniture, including the tower screen, vestry table and vestment wardrobe, seating, porch notice boards, bookcases, library table, serving table, pulpit and Southwell chairs, as well as supplying 40 Howe 40/4 chairs.
