Eastbourne Crematorium was commissioned by Lewes and Eastbourne Councils in August 2018 and was completed in November 2018 . Treske were challenged with helping to transform the interior of the main chapel included the following items: reworking and updating the existing catafalque by cladding with new oak panels and contrasting ebonised rails, supplying new solid oak benches for a chapel that featured removable sections in the front rows to facilitate wheelchair access. Treske also created bespoke crematoria furniture items including: a new lectern with integrated controls and AV features, an organ screen, pew frontals and a console table all with a design and finish that linked with the chapel interior.
Treske put together a colour scheme for the client (in the shape of a mood board) to show the curtain and upholstery fabrics together with all the other materials to be used, such as carpet, timber finishes and paint colours.
The brief included for the replacement of the main committal curtains and this was done using the existing tracks with new motors, controls and curtains supplied in a hard wearing, contract suitable fabric.
The project was required within a tight delivery window, however Treske were able to design and build all items and have them installed on site ready for the crematorium chapel to reopen as planned at the end of 2018.
Treske were commissioned to design and make bespoke crematoria furniture for the two chapels. Catafalques, adjustable height lecterns, sofa seating, upholstered seats and committal curtains were part of the commission.
Treske worked with Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council to create a scheme for their refurbished Robin Hood Crematorium including bench seating, tracks, curtain controls and curtains.
