St Nicholas Church, Great Kimble, lies within the Chiltern Hills just south of Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire. This historic Grade 1 church is made of flint with stone dressing and has been undergoing a large reorder.
One of the main components of the reorder was to remove the existing Victorian benches and their platforms before replacing the floor throughout with a new floor. This now allows for the entire nave flor space to the be cleared of pews and chairs and for various other activities and events to be catered for in this new flexible community worship space.
Working closely with the Church Wardens and PCC, Treske supplied a mixture of 3-seater St Mary’s benches and St Mary’s chairs and armchairs, along with Treske’s St Nicholas folding chairs for additional seating when required. The benches and chairs were made by Treske in oak with solid oak seats. The oak folding chairs have a seagrass seat. All the seating was lightly fumed to help match with some of the existing timber that had been retained as part of the larger reorder.
This 12th century church was reordered with the comfortable Treske St Mary's benches, chairs and armchairs.
As part of a wide-ranging modernisation of the interior of the church, which was completely emptied of the old box pews, Treske designed and manufactured 36 oak stacking benches, 24 oak side chairs and 16 oak armchairs, together with a special altar table.
Treske designed and made freestanding pews and altar furniture as part of the recent reorder of St Michaels and All Angels.
