St Andrew’s Corbridge commissioned a bespoke, contemporary altar designed by Colin Williams of CW Design, choir master of St Andrew’s; Treske worked with him to realize his concept.
The legs form a three-dimensional St Andrew’s cross and support a two metre oval top, all in European oak. The top is held off the legs by steel rods making the oval appear to float above them. All the steel work is finished in a chemically darkened bronze. Under one set of feet are nylon rollers so that the altar can be easily moved. To ensure that the table is level when returned to its central position, bronze pins have been set in the floor to mark where the wheels must go.
The altar was “a gift from the members of the Corbridge congregation of St Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Hexham, as their contribution to the Millenium Re-Ordering of this ancient and beautiful church.”
With our many thanks for all your efforts to produce a wonderful addition to our church and to get it here for Easter. Tremendous!
In partneship with Ron Sims Architect, a new altar, glazed internal porch, side screens and a new servery, complete with fittings and appliances, were made and installed by Treske for this historic church.
For All Saints Church in North Lincolnshire Treske designed, made and installed nearly 220 side, arm and folding chairs, hymn book and Parish room cabinets including choir vestry cupboards and a historical wind instrument display, a specifically designed altar and one memorial book stand.
Treske designed and made a matching altar and altar rails to accompany the 350 Howe 40/4 stacking chairs supplied to St Peter's Church in Farnborough.
